Lincoln Pius X football ‘we’re ready to prove those 2-7 teams are not us’
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Pius X football is ready to turn things around following a difficult stretch where they finished 2-7 two years in a row.
Senior receiver and defensive end Nate Schauer says this is the “hungriest team I’ve ever been apart of.”
“There’s just a lot of hope,” Schauer said. “We’re ready to prove that those 2-7 teams are not us, we’re a different team now.”
Head coach Ryan Kearney is entering his 7th season coaching the Thunderbolts and says the “energy’s been great, they’ve come in really ready to go and focused.”
Depth isn’t an issue for the team this year and coach says it’s about consistency on both sides of the ball.
“Whether it’s offensively taking care of the ball and executing at a high level, defensively making sure that we’re doing the things that we are so that we don’t have big plays on us,” Kearney said.
The Bolts return 25 total seniors and Kearney says the energy of the team is strong.
“All personal goals have really been set aside like everyone’s ready to do everything they can for the guy next to him,” Schauer said.
