Lincoln Police arrest minor after theft of gun, 150 rounds of ammo

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 17-year-old was arrested Thursday after police say he stole a rifle and ammunition from an acquaintance.

On Sunday, Lincoln Police officers met with an 18-year-old victim of a theft.

The victim said he gave his friend a ride to the area of 60th and Fremont streets.

But he did not know the friend’s name, according to police.

After hanging out for a while, the friend left.

That’s when the victim noticed that his 5.56-caliber rifle, a 50-round drum magazine and 150 rounds of ammunition were missing from his car.

After an investigation, the Lincoln Police Department SWAT team and gang unit searched a home near 86th Street and Leighton Avenue.

They found the stolen rifle, another rifle and 117.5 grams of marijuana.

The 17-year-old was lodged in the Youth Detention Center on multiple charges.
