Lincoln Police continue to ask for public’s help investigating possible hate crime

Lincoln Police on Thursday reiterated their need for the public’s help as they investigate reports of a possible hate crime.
Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said last week that officers were called to reports of a 17-year-old Muslim female who was assaulted by two white males near Coddington and West A on Wednesday, May 23rd.
The teen told officers she was walking in the neighborhood when the two males approached her, insulted her and threatened her. She reported being knocked to the ground and kicked.
Bliemeister said the victim had cuts on her face and body. She was later treated at a hospital.
The suspects fled the scene, one on a bike and one on a skateboard, police said.
Bliemeister on Thursday said the investigation is ongoing, as police continue to work with residents, the victim and her family.
Bliemeister said video has been collected, but none that shows the incidents or suspects. He said investigators are reviewing what information they have.
Police say video shows several people walking in the area before and after the time of the reported assault who may have seen something, and those are the people they are asking to come forward.
