Lincoln Police Department awaiting records to identify human remains found in Saunders County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department held a briefing on Friday morning to provide an update on the human remains found during a search in Saunders County.
They say the remains were buried in a tree-lined area on private property. They didn’t say how deep the remains were or whether they were part of an intact skeleton.
“It was an area of interest that we had located. We had marked it off,” said Lieutenant Dustin Romsheck.
“Our crime scene investigators yesterday and the day before that began their excavation and exploration of the area, which is where they found the remains.”
The remains were found near the village of Malmo while police were searching for Hannah Neville and Roberto Tanner of Stromsburg.
This finding comes days after Neville’s car was found in flames, on 39th and Cornhusker in Lincoln.
The identity of the remains has not been confirmed as of the time of this article.
“So, we can’t positively identify them from just looking at them, so we are going to wait for the pathologists to do their investigation, which may take some time, and get that confirmation for us,” said Romsheck.
He also says they are awaiting DNA and dental records.
Sterling James and Sadie Titus have been arrested in connection with the case.
James has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of murder of an unborn child.
The police are also asking for any details the public may have surrounding the missing Stromsburg couple.
