Lincoln Police Department begins anti-impaired driving enforcement campaign

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department started an anti-impaired driving enforcement campaign on Friday.

It’s part of the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which coincides with Labor Day weekend, police said in a press release.

Officers will conduct specialized traffic enforcement focused on impaired drivers until Sept. 4.

Police said officers will take a “zero-tolerance approach” to impaired drivers, while also watching for other traffic and safety violations.

The project is funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.

In 2022, LPD arrested 1,109 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
