Lincoln Police Department identifies man killed in weekend house fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department on Sunday confirmed the identity of a man killed in a northeast Lincoln house fire.

Police identified the man as 66-year-old William Shelburne of Lincoln.

LPD said they think he was smoking while using an oxygen tank.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded just before midnight on Friday to a fire near 57th and Fremont streets.

A Channel 8 reporter at the scene saw smoke in the house, and there was a burning smell in the air.

The front window appeared to have been broken, and foam was running down the siding.
