Lincoln Police investigating reports of child abuse at Beattie Elementary

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department is investigating reports of child abuse at Beattie Elementary School.

In a statement Tuesday from Lincoln Public Schools, officials said Beattie Elementary’s administration received “concerning reports” about a staff member last week.

The staff member was immediately removed from the classroom, and the school contacted LPD, the health department and the families of the three children involved.

“We are not able to provide any more information to protect the integrity of the investigation by Lincoln Police,” the district said in the statement. “We continue to collaborate with them in their investigation.”

LPS said it appreciates the individuals who reported their concerns.

“We value each and every child that walks through our doors. At Beattie and Lincoln Public Schools we will not tolerate any abuse or mishandling of students,” the district said.

LPD spokeswoman Erika Thomas said no arrests or citations have been made at this time.
