Lincoln authorities reopen Ninth Street after investigation into suspicious package

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police say a “suspicious package” outside of the Hall of Justice is safe.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Jim Bopp said Wednesday that someone brought a briefcase into the building, claiming that they were being scammed.

The package was taken out of the building and placed on Ninth Street while it was investigated.

After taking X-rays of the briefcase, authorities opened it up using a “water cannon shot,” Bopp said.

No explosives were found inside.

A part of Ninth Street was shut down during the investigation.  All roads have since been reopened.
