Lincoln Police officer removed from service during domestic abuse investigations
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln Police officer has been removed from service while the department investigates multiple domestic abuse reports.
Police Chief Teresa Ewins has revoked officer Wayne “Jarvis” Wallage’s law enforcement authority.
Lincoln Police say they were made aware of two domestic abuse protection orders and one harassment order issued against Wallage on Tuesday.
These orders prevent Wallage, who has been an officer for seven months, from possessing a firearm, according to police.
Once they were made aware of the impending orders, Wallage was removed from service.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office then served the officer with all three orders on Wednesday.
Since Wallage was unable to use a gun, Assistant Police Chief Minchon Marrow said he could not complete officer duties.
Wallage will now be unable to act in any official law enforcement capacity, police say.
He has not been cited as the investigation is ongoing.
Police have also begun an internal investigation into the matter.
“We take all allegations of misconduct seriously, especially those involving domestic partners,” Marrow wrote in a press release.
She also confirmed with Channel 8 that Wallage is still employed with the department, but it’s unclear if he’s still on the payroll.
Marrow said the department was not comfortable with having an officer with protection orders and while under investigation.
