Lincoln Police report large uptick in car thefts

Lincoln Police said 78 cars have been stolen since the beginning of the year, many of them left unlocked with the keys inside.
This is a huge increase from the 46 stolen in the same time period last year.
Thieves are also targeting car dealerships.
Police said Duteau Chevrolet’s had three vehicles taken in February. Two were stolen in early February, another was taken February 20th. They’ve suffered a loss of more tan $100,000.
A Chevy Silverado taken from Duteau was recovered in Denton early Wednesday.
Police encourage you to lock your vehicles, take your keys out and never leave it unattended while running.
