Crime scene investgators spent most the day at a home near 14th and Pine Lake where police say a stabbing happened late Tuesday night.
Neighbors say they are shocked by this incident and that the family usually keeps to themselves. And coworkers of the victim say he will be dearly missed.
46–year–old Sujay Nooka was fatally stabbed in the chest late Tuesday night after a child’s birthday party.
He was a father of three.
“He was an upbeat guy, he met you with a smile, a handshake and he just had a can do attitude,” Dan Krick of Lincoln Industries said.
Nooka’s coworkers at Lincoln Industries were met with the news of his death Wednesday morning.
“Suhjay was just a beloved member of this family, everybody that knew Suhjay, loved suhjay, he was just that type of guy,” Krick said.
Police say they still don’t know what led up to the incident.
“The person responsible, a family member, was still at the scene,” Officer Katie Flood said.
Nooka’s father–in–law, 77–year–old Bayapa Lingala, was arrested at the home. Nooka was taken to a local hospital for surgery, but he died just before 3 a.m.
A court affidavit says Lingala told officers at the scene that he stabbed Nooka. Police believe they’ve recovered the knife that was used.
Lingala was booked for second degree murder. He’ll appear in court on Friday.
