LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are hoping to curb underage drinking during Husker football season with a new enforcement project.

This project coincides with the beginning of Nebraska football and the university’s fall semester.

Police say they hope it will curb “dangerous behaviors” like binge drinking, underage drinking, wild parties and drunken driving during Husker football games.

The Lincoln Police Department’s northwest team will be in charge of the project.

Additional officers will patrol Memorial Stadium during home games this season, thanks to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.

Police say the project dates include upcoming home games against North Dakota, Georgia Southern and Oklahoma.
