Lincoln Police to begin anti-impaired driving campaign on St. Patrick’s Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department is participating in a special enforcement campaign on St. Patrick’s Day.

In a press release Friday, police said the goal is to reduce the number of crashes and DUI violations during the holiday.

LPD is also promoting “responsible sales and service” of alcohol throughout the city.

Additional officers will be on duty conducting alcohol compliance checks and traffic enforcement with an emphasis on traffic and DUI violations, police said.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office is providing funding for the project.

Police said Lincolnites who plan to drink should plan to have a designated driver.

Those who see impaired drivers are asked to call the police.
