Lincoln Police to begin O Street traffic enforcement project in March

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department is hoping to curb impaired driving and speeding along O Street in March.
On Friday, police said the initiative reflects the agency’s commitment to improving road safety and responding to concerns about speeding and noise violations along the busy road.
Sgt. Sara Genoways, LPD’s traffic unit supervisor, noted that officers issued 4,095 speeding citations on O Street in 2024.
Officers also handed out 240 reckless-driving tickets.
“While these violations occur throughout Lincoln, O Street has been a frequent source of citizen concerns,” Genoways said. “The Northeast Team aims to address these issues by increasing visibility and enforcement in this area.”
The project is funded through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.
