Lincoln Prostitution Arrests

The internet is helping Lincoln police catch some criminals.

Police are now going on-line to look for people wanting to sell themselves for sex.

The most recent arrest happened Tuesday.

An Omaha woman was netted for prostitution.

Authorities first began tracking her on the internet, a destination becoming all to popular in the web of prostitution.

Erotic, sexy, stunning full service. Those are the words that led lincoln police to 22-year-old Patricia Lewis.

She was tracked from craigslist.

Look a little further and you may find her on other sites around the web.

That's the case for many people looking to sell themselves for sex.

A sales technique older than it may sound.

The websites are growing nationwide.

Here in Lincoln authorities check for possible prostitutes every day.

With anywhere from one to 15 new postings a day, investigators stay busy with an issue they know could be worse.

We're told that many of the people who use the internet to find clients are not the same type of people you'd find on the streets.

So far this year Lincoln police have arrested five or six people who have posted themselves on the web and those numbers are rather small compared other cities around the country.
