Lincoln Public Schools details storm damage ahead of back-to-school week for students

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools detailed some of the damage to its buildings following the severe storm that swept across Lincoln on Saturday.

As of 2 p.m. Saturday, LPS has 18 buildings without power, four locations with roof damage, 15 locations with significant tree damage and six locations with fence damage, Interim Superintendent John Skretta said in a statement to Channel 8.

“Our amazing custodial and maintenance crews have been working since early this morning to survey and repair any damage from the recent storms,” Skretta said.

With classes starting for LPS students on Tuesday and Wednesday, Skretta said crews are working “diligently” to provide a safe atmosphere for students.

“We are also grateful to the City of Lincoln, Lincoln Traffic and Utilities and LES for their continued collaboration and clean up efforts around the city,” Skretta said.
