Lincoln Public Schools highlights social workers during national appreciation week
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools is honoring its social workers during a national appreciation week.
The district employs over 45 social workers. They are licensed mental health professionals who support students daily.
Allen Ladd, a social worker with the Bryan Community Focus Program, said it’s important for students to feel like they have someone to talk to.
“The biggest piece is just being that person they can go to as that safe person in the building,” he said.
Each LPS elementary, middle and high school has an assigned social worker.
National School Social Work Week is held from March 3 to March 9.
