Lincoln Public Schools to host public hearing on proposed budget
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools is hosting a public hearing to discuss the upcoming school year’s budget on Monday. The Board of Education is expected to vote on the proposal on Tuesday.
After nearly two years of what LPS called a “flat budget,” it is looking to increase the budget by 5.8%, totaling about $490 million.
The “CLASS” plan will receive nearly $643,000 for devices, and school supplies are expected to receive $300,000.
New proposed adjustments also include a social worker added to the threat assessment team and funding for bowling, girls wrestling and early childhood transportation services.
The meeting will be held at LPS’s Steve Joel District Leadership Center at 6 p.m. on Monday. The Board of Education meets at the same time on Tuesday.
