LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department on Friday announced an upcoming closure of a bridge over Oak Creek.

North First Street between Charleston Street and Cornhusker Highway will close for bridge maintenance.

City officials initially said the project was to start on Monday and be completed around mid-July.

But late Friday afternoon, the city said the closure was canceled. A new start date has not been determined.

LTU said pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained during the project, with brief closures occurring as necessary. The city said it would provide advance notice of those.

Business access will be maintained via Sun Valley Boulevard and Charleston Street.

If you’re going to the Sandhills Global Youth Complex, you should use First Street and Cornhusker Highway.

“LTU appreciates the public’s patience during this closure and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances,” LTU said in a press release.
