Lincoln Schools Growing

Next fall, Lincoln elementary schools are expected to grow by more than 450 students.

That includes Roper Elementary, which is one of two schools in the city that will have more than 900 students.

The school's principal, Dan Navratil, says the school's capacity is 550 and that adding more classrooms is the best way to correct the problem.

That also means more additions.  Navratil says, “I'm sure there will be a gymnasium, we'll have to look at the space for the lunchroom, music, computer labs.  Those things are effected when you add additional classrooms.”

The school board will talk about the overcrowding problem on Wednesday but no vote is expected this week.
