Lincoln side streets are still icy which has caused concerns for some citizens

With low winter temperatures, the ice and snow will be on the streets and sidewalks for a while.
Which for some Lincoln citizens can cause a lot of worries when they are driving or walking on the street.
“I almost slipped and fell at least two times if not more because of the ice,” Lincoln Citizen Lina Driscoll said.
The city says that they plow streets based on a priority system that takes care of arterial streets, schools roads, and bus routes before they take care of side streets.
Also for the city of Lincoln to plow residential streets there has to be an accumulation of at least 4 inches of snow.
The city of Lincoln’s arterial streets are more than 1,000 miles worth of lane miles, and when you include all of the side streets in Lincoln it would add more than 1,500 more miles to plow, making it very difficult to get to all of the side roads.
You can call the Lincoln Snow Center at (402) 441-7644, and the city of Lincoln say they will try to get to your residential area as soon as possible.
“We get to those as quickly as we can we have crews out running all day and all night trying to maintain our response to those complaints so that we can get there in a timely fashion.” Tim Byrne Lincoln Maintenance Operations Manager said.
