LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Skatepark Association talked with the community Wednesday night about how it will get the money for the new skate park coming to the Haymarket.
The skate park will be built at Seventh and N streets as part of the South Haymarket Park.
The entire park will cost around $25 million in total, but the skate park alone will cost around $1.75 million.

Andrew Windle, a member of the skate park association, said the group’s goal is to provide a safe environment for all ages to act on their love for skateboarding, rollerblading and other activities.
It’s also striving to make the skate park accessible to wheelchairs and cyclists.
“Skateboarding is an amazing activity,” Windle said. “It’s really important to young people, and I’m really excited that the city is investing in skateboarding and its youth.”
Construction for this park is not yet underway. The association’s board members are starting to put together fundraisers.
The association will host fundraisers throughout May and July. This will help the group finish the design before construction.
