Lincoln snow removal businesses feel cold shoulder of a dry winter
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The lack of snow this winter is leaving snow removal companies in Lincoln with less work than usual.
Lincoln has only received 1 inch of snow so far this season, the lowest amount of snow ever in the capital city this far into winter.
Jerry Barnett and his son Tyler operate Barnett Snow Removal and Construction, and they said they have been waiting for snow.
“Loved every year of it, until this year,” Jerry Barnett said.

The father-son duo said some of their workers depend on the snow removal paycheck in the winter when they can’t do their other jobs.
“That’s where the snow removal, once it does snow, is such a huge benefit for some 0f these guys to help subsidize their lost wages in their normal jobs,” Tyler Barnett said.
And the preparation for winter is also costly.
“We’ve got a lot of equipment, a lot of money tied up every year going into the season,” Jerry Barnett said.
The company said it is trying to find ways to stay busy and is ready for whatever weather comes to Lincoln.
