Lincoln Southeast builds early lead to stave off Lincoln Southwest

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Southeast Knights defeated the Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks 30-14 at Seacrest Field on Friday night.

On the Knights’ first drive, quarterback Owen Baxter connected with wide receiver Caden Ward to put Southeast up 7-0 early.

The game remained 7-0 going into quarter two, as both defenses slowed down offensive efforts.

The Knights increased their lead to 13-0 midway through the quarter, thanks to a goal-line score by running back Cash Buettenback.

Lincoln Southwest found its first score of the game on a touchdown pass by QB Brockson Teply to running back Tanner Novosad.

The Knights would block the attempted PAT to keep the game at 13-6.

On the ensuing kick return, wide receiver Donald Defrand Jr. found an open space and took the return to the house for another score.

The Knights held off the Silverhawks to secure the victory.
