Lincoln Southeast surges in the second half, defeating Lincoln Southwest

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — It was a battle of the south side Friday night at Seacrest Field, where Lincoln Southeast faced off against Lincoln Southwest in Channel 8’s Game of the Week.

The Knights won 26-9 over the Silver Hawks.

If you were a fan of tough defense and a slow-paced game, then you liked the first half. It was a defensive battle that saw two turnovers.

The game was knotted at zero going into the break.

Lincoln Southwest kicked a field goal to get the first points on the board in the third.

But the Knights immediately responded with a deep touchdown to wideout Mason Mehta.

Lincoln Southeast didn’t look back.

The Knights tacked on 26 total points in the second half, including two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown from quarterback Gavin Semms.

The Knights now move to 2-0, and the Silver Hawks fall to 0-2.

Lincoln Southeast will look to stay undefeated versus Creighton Prep next Friday night, and Lincoln Southwest will search for its first win on the road at Papillion-La Vista.
