Lincoln Southwest girls soccer shuts out Elkhorn South to reach third straight state tourney
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Southwest girls soccer team is headed back to the state tournament for a third-straight year after defeating Elkhorn South 2-0 on Thursday night.
With five minutes left in the first half of the District A-2 championship, Molly Riggins lifted an assist to Jillian Lane, who made the long shot to give the Silver Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Then with just 13 minutes remaining in the game, Charley Kort stepped up for the free kick and got it around the defenders and past the keeper for the goal.
Goalkeeper Alexa Gobel had another standout game, bagging another clean sheet for Southwest.
