Lincoln students show off culinary skills in ‘Chopped’ cooking competition
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Eighth graders at Scott Middle School felt the heat Thursday in a cooking competition.
The students were tasked with preparing a dish with no recipe, only five ingredients and a time limit — just like in the Food Network show “Chopped.”
“Everything was really hands-on, and we didn’t get a set plan of what we need to do,” Alexis Morgan said. “We got to come up with all of it ourselves.”
Tia Smith, a family and consumer sciences teacher at Scott, said students had to work together to overcome the challenge.
Once the cooking was complete, teachers at the school judged the dishes.
