Lincoln teen accused of driving under the influence in hit-and-run near State Capitol
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln teen drove off after a crash that caused an SUV to roll onto its roof near the State Capitol on Thursday, police say.
The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of 17th and K Streets.
Police said 18-year-old Rony Martinez was heading east when he went through a red light and struck a northbound SUV.
The SUV landed on its roof as Martinez drove off.
Officers found Martinez about 15 minutes later and arrested him on suspicion of leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Martinez – who had a blood alcohol level of .088 – was also cited on suspicion of driving under the influence and violating a traffic signal, police said.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
