Lincoln teen admits to stabbing mother in deal with prosecutors

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln teenager admitted in juvenile court Monday to stabbing his mother.
In exchange, prosecutors, who had sought to try the 16-year-old as an adult, moved to drop a second-degree assault charge in county court.
Channel 8 is not naming the boy to avoid identifying the victim.

On March 20, police said he stabbed his mother, 47, once in the back near 63rd Street and Lexington Avenue.
She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.
The teen then engaged in a brief standoff with officers, according to police.
The judge has set a hearing for June 16 to determine the boy’s penalty.
