Lincoln teen arrested after stealing car and fleeing police
A 17-year-old is in a youth assessment center after stealing a vehicle and fleeing from police.

Lincoln Police arrested a 17-year-old after he stole a vehicle from Midwest Medical and fled from officers.
Police say on Friday a 2013 red Chevy Equinox had been stolen while a 27-year-old employee was loading the vehicle and left the keys in the ignition.
The employee was able to track the car thanks to the GPS tracker. The employee caught up with the car near 48th and Holdrege and was able to offer a suspect description to officers.
Officers later spotted the car near 24th and Capital Parkway and were able to identify the teen from previous contacts.
The car was tracked near where the teen was known to live near 29th and ‘O’ Streets and the teen was then seen running down bike trail where car was left parked. As he attempted to climb the fence, he was tackled by officers and taken into custody.
The employee who reported the vehicle stolen also reported a $75 dashcam recorder and a $1,000 UV decontamination box missing from the car. The decontamination box was loaned to Midwest Medical by Pius High School to decontaminate medical masks.
The teen was arrested on an outstanding juvenile warrant and lodged at youth assessment center. He was also referred for an auto theft from March 30th from Le Gros Avenue and Washington Streets where police gathered fingerprints that came back to the teen.
