Lincoln teens caught with stolen handgun, marijuana

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three Lincoln teenagers were taken into custody Saturday after police say they were caught with marijuana and a stolen handgun.

Just before 11:15 p.m., Lincoln Police officers saw a 2005 red Honda Accord in the parking lot of Roper Park near Eighth and Judson streets. City parks close at 11 p.m.

Three teenagers were in the car, and officers said they smelled marijuana.

Police said they asked the teens to get out of the vehicle, then found a loaded handgun in the waistband of 18-year-old Julio Garcia.

Officers determined that the handgun was stolen.

Another loaded handgun with an extended magazine was found in the waistband of a 17-year-old boy.

The driver, a 19-year-old, was ticketed on suspicion of possession of marijuana and entering a park after hours.

Garcia was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana and numerous other charges.

The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana and several other charges.
