Lincoln woman feels ‘violated’ after porch pirate runs off with wedding gifts

Porch Pirate Leaves Lincoln Woman Feeling 'violated'

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln woman was the victim of porch piracy while she and her fiance were out of town.

Camila Hallowell was more than a thousand miles away when she woke up to a notification from her doorbell camera.

The footage shows a man stealing multiple packages from her porch and running away.

“It kept us up all night after that,” Hallowell said. “Of course, things are replaceable, but, just the premise of, you know, that happening.”

The packages were items from her wedding registry.

She had the packages shipped to her parents’ house, but they still showed up at her front door.

“It’s almost like being violated, I suppose,” Hallowell said.

Hallowell said although the gifts are just things, it’s the sentiment of the gifts being from loved ones that is hard to lose.

Now she is on high alert, fearing the same thing may happen again.

“I’ve never not felt safe, and now it’s the added stress of, ‘Oh, now got to get home,’ you know, ‘Got to make sure the packages are brought in,'” Hallowell said. “Who knows how long we can leave them out now?”

Hallowell and her fiance alerted the Lincoln Police Department of the theft, and police are still looking for the man responsible for the theft.
