One Lincoln woman is fighting for her life. At 16 years old Callie Duryea-Moore was diagnosed with a disease that causes her liver to attack itself. Two years ago, at 28, she needed a liver transplant.  But that’s just the beginning of her health troubles.

A nurse, wife and mother of two she’s had two liver transplants. After several surgeries she went back to a normal life working full time and giving birth to a baby girl. But is September, her health problems came back. During a surgery she had to be resuscitated for nearly 30 minutes. Now she’s had several strokes and is paralyzed on her left side.

Now she’s in the ICU at UNMC and her family is raising money to help with her kid’s daycare and living expenses.

"People this young should not have this many health problems. This could happen to anyone. You know, she’s about to turn 30, next month. It could be any one of us. I would just ask that people consider helping, or even spreading awareness. Or just saying like, what would I want for my family members?" Jessica Hehn, Callie’s Cousin, said.

Callie is at risk for infections and has a blood clot in her leg that could be fatal if it moves to her brain.  Because of her stroke and complications with surgery, she may have brain damage. Doctors don’t yet know how severe the situation is or if Callie will recover.

The family is holding an event at Madsen’s bowling and Billiards this Saturday at 6 p.m. 4700 Dudley St, Lincoln, NE 68503, to help cover medical and living expenses. A portion of all proceeds will go to help the family if you mention Callie’s name. If you can’t make the event, her go fund me page is linked here: https://www.gofundme.com/callieduryeamoore. An account is also set up at union bank under her name.
