Lincoln woman found guilty of conspiracy to distribute meth

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln woman has been convicted in federal court of being involved in a meth ring, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
On Wednesday, a jury found Angelica Agena, 41, guilty on two counts, including conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
The case began on June 29, 2022, when Lancaster County sheriff’s deputies pulled over a Camaro with a broken taillight.
Neither the driver, Gary Payton, nor Agena had a valid driver’s license.
Deputies searched the car after seeing an open alcoholic beverage, authorities said.
They opened Agena’s purse and found a gallon-size bag with about 7 ounces of meth.
Sheriff Terry Wagner said at the time that the bag had enough meth for 812 doses.
Investigators also seized Payton’s and Agena’s cellphones and found evidence of a meth distribution conspiracy.
Agena had gone to Omaha with Payton to get the meth found in her bag, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and she was setting him up with buyers in Lincoln.
Payton pleaded guilty and was sentenced in June to six years in prison.
Agena will be sentenced on Feb. 6.
