Lincoln woman sentenced to two decades for killing husband in 2023

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln woman who killed her husband with a lethal dose of fentanyl in 2023 was sentenced Monday.

Amanda Wright, 42, got 19 to 20 years for manslaughter. She was also credited for 395 days served.

Wright could be eligible for parole in nine years.

On Aug. 23, 2023, officers found 38-year-old Zachary Svoboda dead at a home near 48th and Adams streets.

An autopsy showed that Svoboda died from acute intoxication from methamphetamine and fentanyl, police said.

Wright had “carried out” a plan by poisoning her husband with fentanyl, according to an arrest affidavit.
