Lincoln woman to stand trial in fatal hit-and-run of boyfriend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A judge on Wednesday advanced a case against a Lincoln woman accused of hitting her boyfriend with a car and leaving him for dead.
Lancaster County Judge Thomas Zimmerman found that there was enough evidence to try Cindy Martinez, 23, and sent her case district court.
She is charged with leaving the scene of a serious injury or death accident.

On May 14, police said Martinez and 22-year-old Alejandro Murillo left their home near 44th Street and Colfax Avenue.
After they had driven a few blocks, Murillo “became upset,” according to court documents.
Police said he got out of the vehicle and began banging on windows.
An arrest affidavit says Martinez then drove off, hitting Murillo.

Someone saw him lying in the road a few minutes later and called 911.
Murillo later died at a hospital.
Martinez told police that that the last time she saw Murillo was at a home near 44th Street and Cornhusker Highway, according to the affidavit.
But “several interviews” contradicted her, police said.
Martinez is set to be arraigned in Lancaster County District Court on April 16.
