Lincolnites pick up tree debris and tackle icy sidewalks after blizzard
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Tuesday’s gusty winds and rain turning into snow created a mess in many Lincoln neighborhoods.
They knocked out power for some and left others dealing with fallen trees and icy roads.
The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department got a head start Wednesday removing downed trees.
If you see a tree or any branches blocking public roads and sidewalks, call the Lincoln Police Department’s nonemergency number at 402-441-6000.
LPD will report the tree to Parks and Rec.
But any limbs and branches that fell on your property are your responsibility.

Lincolnites also bundled up to clear snow and ice.
“Layers and layers, but most importantly is wind-proof layers,” said Mark Miller as he described his attire. “And lots of fleece and anything that’s warm.”
Many know Mark Miller as their local mailman, but on Wednesday, he unexpectedly got the afternoon off due to the storm.
“We had an electrical outage downtown, and so they weren’t able to sort out all of the letter mail,” he said.

So with a snowplow at the ready, he made sure driveways and sidewalks in his neighborhood were clear.
“This would be my third, and I will have another one across the street from my house,” Miller said as he was working. “I’ll do my neighbors across the street as well, so that would be four.”
He said this is just another way to serve those around him.
“It’s because it’s the good neighborly thing to do,” he said. “I have the snow blower, and I’m out here, and it doesn’t take that much time to be nice.”
