Lincolnites provide over 3,000 backpacks for kids in India, Bangladesh
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Hope Venture hosted their 11th annual Run for Hope event at Pioneers Park on Saturday.
573 people took part in a 5k and 10k race where the proceeds provided backpacks to kids living in extreme poverty in India and Bangladesh.
The backpacks were filled with a year’s worth of school supplies, allowing the opportunity for these kids to have access to education they might not normally have.
“I work at The Hope Venture, but this year I actually got to run in the Run for Hope,” Carli Huston, Head of Acquisition and Mass Marketing said.
“I was surrounded by individuals from all walks of life, at all different levels of fitness,” she said. “And I thought, ‘Yes! This is what we mean when we say anyone can make a difference!'”
The Hope Venture is a nonprofit in Lincoln that is helping people in Asia and Africa through education and health projects.
