Lincoln’s Hi-Way Diner makes Food Network list
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln staple is getting a shoutout from the Food Network.
Hi-Way Diner announced Tuesday that it made the channel’s list of the best classic diners across all 50 states.
“The vibe harks back to another era too, with loads of antiques, porcelain signs and neon accents adorning the space, and a menu of simple, home-style cooked dishes,” says the article on the Food Network’s website.
The writer recommends the chicken-fried steak, the hot beef sandwich, the gorilla burger or the Hot Stripper (grilled Texas toast, hash browns and three chicken strips topped with sausage gravy).
“We’re so proud to represent Nebraska and be recognized for our comfort food, throwback atmosphere, and warm hospitality” Hi-Way Diner said on Facebook.
The restaurant on Nebraska Parkway near Southwood Drive has been in business for more than 30 years.
It’s open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with breakfast served all day.
