Lincoln’s Scott Middle School kicks off the year with pep rally

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – School resumed Monday, and Scott Middle School wanted to make the first day fun for the incoming sixth graders.

So the school held a pep rally with music and games.

This wasn’t just the students’ first day; it was also the first day for Scott’s new principal, Jesse Tvrdy.

“We want to take down that anxiety and make this feel like a place that they feel comfortable,” Tvrdy said.

Scott teachers formed a band for the pep rally, playing a variety of instruments, followed up with games and prizes for the students.

One sixth grader said she was nervous for her first day but found out that “middle school really isn’t as bad as you would think it is. It’s actually really fun.”
