LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln’s Fourth of July celebration will look a little different this year.

For the first time, the Uncle Sam Jam will be at Haymarket Park, the home of the Lincoln Saltdogs and Nebraska baseball.

It’s usually held just to the north at Oak Lake Park.

“We’re thrilled to bring Lincoln’s Uncle Sam Jam to Haymarket Park this year,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said in a press release. “This beautiful new setting offers a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere for a beloved tradition. We look forward to celebrating our nation’s independence together with music, community, and a spectacular fireworks show.”

The ballpark will open at 6 p.m. on July 3.

It can hold up to 8,500 people for the event.

The funk rock band Soul Dawg will perform at 7:15 and 8:30 p.m.

There will be a flag lowering ceremony at 8:20, and the night will be capped off with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.

The Haymarket Park concession stands will be open, and food and drinks — including alcohol — will be for sale.

“We’re proud to host this signature community event at Haymarket Park,” Shane Tritz, general manager of the Saltdogs, said in a release. “We’re excited to welcome thousands of Lincoln residents to enjoy an evening of celebration in one of the city’s premier venues. It’s an honor to support an event that brings people together and highlights what makes Lincoln such a special place.”
