Little Josh ready to defend crown at Josh Fight

5-year-old champ is excited for the event to return to Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Little Josh Vinson Jr. can’t help but smile when he thinks about the Josh Fight.

“It made me happy!” the 5-year-old said.

Little Josh captured the hearts and imaginations of people all over the world a year ago, when he emerged victorious at the Josh Fight, an event where Joshes from all over the country squared off in a pool noodle fight.

After a fierce battle, it was the littlest of Joshes who prevailed, giving the then-4-year-old viral fame.

“The world responded well to our Little Josh being crowned king, so that was pretty awesome,” said his father, Josh Sr.

In April, Josh Swain, the organizer of the original Josh Fight, announced that the event will be returning to Lincoln this month.

Little Josh said as fun as it was to win the Josh Fight last year, he wants someone else to win this year.

“It says a lot about him. It says a lot about his character,” his dad said. “He understands that other people are going to want to win these things and he’s OK with that.”

“He just wants to go out there and have fun again and kind of show off his pool noodle fighting skills.”

The Vinsons plan on going to the Josh Fight in May. Little Josh says he will dutifully defend his crown.

His strategy?

“I’ll just say, ‘Can you get out?’ Then I’m just going to fight by myself!” he exclaimed.

Vinson Sr., who grew up in Lincoln, describes the city as “euphoric,” particularly when the weather is nice.

He hopes that the Josh Fight can be celebrated in Lincoln for years to come.

“If this is gonna be a yearly thing, I expect it to be even bigger every year,” he said. “So we want it, we want it to get bigger, we want it to grow, and we’re just happy to be a part of it and [for Little Josh] to be crowned the first King Josh is amazing.”

The event will be held at Bowling Lake Park on May 21 at 11 a.m.

All proceeds will go to Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha. Tickets are now on sale at thejoshfight.com.
