LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Governor Ricketts will be holding another press conference to update Nebraska on the COVID-19 crisis and vaccine distribution, tune in here to watch. We’ll be posting live updates below.
LIVE UPDATES:
- Gov. Ricketts is still in quarantine after a possible COVID-19 exposure last week–he tested negative yesterday (on day 5), on Sunday he’ll be able to leave his house (7 days).
- Fiserv representative speaks on their presence in Nebraska
- Variants of the coronavirus have been found in states close to us like Iowa and Colorado
- Hospitalizations are down in NE, still need to work on getting them further down
- Ricketts says we’ve been getting more Moderna vaccines and later this month we’ll get more vaccines from Pfizer, could possibly see the Johnson & Johnson soon
- 97% of the first doses of the vaccine have been distributed, all health departments are in Phase 1B now
- ANGIE LING, incident commander at DHHS: Feb. 4th was a record high for vaccination
- Ling: 23,500 second doses will be received each week
- DHHS will be submitting another plan for additional support in vaccination this week
- Grand Island got around 1,000 people vaccinated on Thursday
- Ling says they’re seeing a “slight lag” in people coming back for a second dose, wants to encourage people that you NEED to get a second dose to be FULLY vaccinated (approx. 6,000 people have not returned for the second doses)
