More than 75% of elder population vaccinated

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln’s Mayor, along with local health department officials, provides an update to our community’s vaccination progress at 3:30 p.m. We’ll be streaming it live right here on klkntv.com.
Nebraska moved into Phase 2A Monday, which includes residents between the ages of 50 and 64.
LLCHD is hosting two more mass vaccination clinics this week. The first is on Thursday at Pinnacle Bank Arena (PBA) for residents ages 59 and older to get their first dose of the vaccine. The second is on Friday at PBA for residents 70 years or older to get their second dose.

In addition to the two upcoming mass vaccination clinics this week, LLCHD is working with Bryan and CHI Health to host smaller vaccine clinics for those with high-risk medical conditions.
LLCHD also plans to hold a second vaccine clinic on Mar. 30 in partnership with the Asian Community and Cultural Center, one on Mar. 31 with the Mount Zion Church, and another on April 12 with El Centro de las Americas at the Center for People in Need.
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said Lancaster County has vaccinated over 75% of its residents aged 65 or older. While 20% of our total population have been fully vaccinated.
Today, Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reports 43 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the community total to 29,247.
The death toll remains at 224.
More than 16,300 people have recovered from the virus, with nearly 145,000 vaccines administered. Last week alone, about 18,200 shots were given over three mass vaccination clinics.
The weekly positivity rate is 8.5%.
