LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 1-ranked Nebraska volleyball team made a statement in the opening round of the NCAA tournament with a sweep over Long Island.

The Huskers won 25-11, 25-15, 25-17 at the Bob Devaney Center on Friday night.


As a team, the Huskers boasted a .476% hitting percentage, while the Sharks only hit .094%.

Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick led the Huskers with 10 kills apiece, while Jackson hit .833% and Allick hit .750%.

Bergen Reilly led the efficient Huskers with 39 assists and added a team-high 11 digs. Olivia Mauch also tallied 11 digs.

14 total Huskers saw action in Friday’s match, including Manaia Ogbechie, Campbell Flynn and Skyler Pierce.

Nebraska will match up with Kansas State on Saturday in the second round of the tournament.

The Wildcats won in a five-set thriller over San Diego.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Devaney Center on ESPN+.

The Huskers made a statement in the opening set, jumping out to an early 6-2 lead over the Sharks.


Nebraska ended the first set on a 16-5 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match, winning the set 25-11.

As a team, the Huskers boasted a .615% hitting percentage in the set, while the Sharks had a .034% hitting percentage.

Andi Jackson led Nebraska with five kills on six swings, while Harper Murray had four kills on eight swings.


Bergen Reilly racked up 14 total assists, and Olivia Mauch tallied five digs.
