Nebraska football falls to No. 15 Utah in SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska football team fell in its final game of the season, losing to No. 15 Utah 44-22 in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl at Allegiant Stadium.
The Huskers got out to a fast start on offense, taking a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
But the Utes would go on to score 37 unanswered points to take a commanding lead throughout most of the game.
Nebraska totaled 337 yards on offense, but the Blackshirts gave up 537 total yards, including 310 yards through the air.
Utah’s Devon Dampier completed 19 of his 31 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns.
Tight end Dallen Bentley led the Utes’ receiving corps with 106 yards on six catches and a touchdown.
Fellow tight end JJ Buchanan racked up 76 yards and a touchdown on four catches.
In the backfield, Dampier led the rushing attack for Utah with 148 rushing yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns.
TJ Lateef completed 15 of his 28 passes for 182 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Running backs Mekhi Nelson and Isaiah Mozee led Nebraska’s receiving corps with 48 yards apiece.
Jacory Barney had the lone touchdown reception in the first quarter.
Nelson led the charge in Nebraska’s backfield with 88 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

FOURTH QUARTER
The Huskers finally get on the board thanks to a 7-yard touchdown rush from Lateef. A two-point conversion from Quinn Clark made the score 44-22, Utah.
Utah extended its lead in the fourth quarter with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Dampier to Bentley, making the score 44-14.
THIRD QUARTER
The Utes put up another score in the third quarter, this time from a 5-yard touchdown rush from Dampier on fourth down. The Utes lead 38-14.
On Utah’s first drive of the second half, Rogers capped off a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run to give the Utes a 31-14 lead.
SECOND QUARTER
Utah ends the first half on a 17-0 run, taking a 24-14 lead into the break.
Dampier takes it up the middle for an 11-yard touchdown run.
Nebraska held Utah in the red zone to just 3 points, as Curtis hit a 28-yard field goal to make the score 17-14 Utes.
On third and goal from the 20-yard line, Dampier found JJ Buchanan for the touchdown, tying the game at 14.
Nebraska started the second quarter by going three-and-out.

FIRST QUARTER
To end the first quarter, the Blackshirts got a stop on defense. The Huskers will take over on their own 27-yard line.
The Huskers kept their offensive momentum on the next drive, capping off a 12-play, 75-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown pass from TJ Lateef to Jacory Barney, giving Nebraska a 14-7 lead.
Utah answered quickly with an efficient drive. A six-play, 75-yard drive ended in a two-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Devon Dampier, tying the game at 7.
The Huskers opened up the game with an eight-play, 82-yard drive that was capped off by a 38-yard touchdown run from Mekhi Nelson, giving Nebraska an early 7-0 lead.
