Loaded guns and marijuana found during traffic stop, Lincoln Police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two were arrested Friday after officers found loaded guns and marijuana inside their vehicle during a traffic stop, Lincoln Police say.
An officer pulled over a silver Chrysler that was driving with no headlights at 14th and O Streets. The officer then noticed the smell of marijuana and an open beer can inside, according to Lincoln Police.
When the officer asked Lela Shanks, 23, and BJ Rice, 29, to exit the vehicle, they noticed the grip of a handgun coming from between the driver’s seat and the center console, Lincoln Police say.
The officer seized a loaded .380 caliber handgun and also found another 9mm handgun under the passenger seat. They also found 0.3 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, according to Lincoln Police.
Rice then gave officers fake names and eventually was found to have been convicted of felony charges in North Carolina.
Lincoln Police arrested Shanks on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, no headlights, and no license on his person.
Rice was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm by a prohibited person, providing false information to an officer, possessing marijuana less than 1 oz and possessing an open alcohol container.
