Local church offering care packages to those in quarantine
Contemplate Lincoln has teamed up with J Tech Construction and Westminster Presbyterian church to bring a week worth of groceries to those stuck in quarantine.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Contemplate Lincoln, a church located near 31st and P streets, is offering groceries and care packages to those who are in need and stuck in quarantine.
Adam Luedtke, the Pastor and Director of Contemplate Lincoln, tells Channel 8 News that he got the idea for the service after seeing posts on Facebook about friends in need who were quarantined due to an exposure to COVID-19 or as the result of a positive test.
“The idea just kept poking me, circulating and sticking around,” Luedtke says.
Luedtke says Contemplate Lincoln is using a portion of the grant money they received from the CARES Act to fund the program and says JTech Construction stepped in to match their funding and help make the grocery deliveries. Westminster Presbyterian Church has also joined in with Contemplate Lincoln’s efforts to help the community.
“That’s kind of the thought behind it, keeping people safe in their homes and quarantine, if you are experiencing loss of income and unable to feed your family and you’re in quarantine I think that’s kind of a terrible bind, so I think hopefully this helps folks and helps them honor their quarantine cause they don’t have to face that pressure of feeding their family.”
The care packages include seven days worth of groceries as well as vitamin C and vitamin D to help those who may have had a positive COVID-19 test result. Luedtke says he’s proud to help serve the people of Lincoln.
In one week, Luedtke says they have served around 60 households – about 150 people total.
“It’s really a niche, we have a wonderful community here in Lincoln, we have wonderful programs at the food bank, Matt Talbot, Community Action, but if you’re in quarantine you cant get to those places right now so this is a niche of us coming to them,” he says.
Luedtke says he hopes to continue the program as long as their are resources available to keep it going. Those in need can sign up for a care package on Contemplate Lincoln’s Facebook page or website.
For those interested in helping Contemplate Lincoln continue their efforts, you can donate here, or by visiting their website. Donations can be designated to the care package program, and all donations made through Facebook until Christmas Eve will also go directly toward the program.
