Local lawmakers come out to the People’s City Mission to serve those in need

On Wednesday afternoon Governor Ricketts, State Senators Suzanne Geist, Patty Pansing Brooks, Matt Hansen, and City Councilwoman Cyndi Lamm came out to serve a Thanksgiving lunch at the People’s City Mission.
For the people who stay at the mission seeing these local lawmakers come out to serve them a lunch means the world for them.
“It makes a big difference, in fact, I don’t think they even realize the difference they are making in the lives of these folks who are staying here. After they leave, and this isn’t their first time, we get so many comments from our guest of how important and how meaningful it was for them,” CEO of the People’s City Mission Pastor Tom Barber said.
For the politicians who have been serving for multiple years at the People’s City Mission, it always puts them into the holiday spirit.
The People’s City Mission wants you to know that you don’t need to be a political figure to help out at the People’s City Mission, and that anybody can help out those in need this holiday season.
“There are people who are in our community that feel they are on the outside looking in and so for them to be able to celebrate the holidays, and thanksgiving and be a part of Christmas it makes them feel like they still belong,” Barber said.
