Local organization grants motorcycles to veterans and helps build community

Wheels 4 Warriors is a small community organization based out of Lincoln with a large nationwide impact yet to reach full potential.
They help issue a motorcycle to deserving veterans that may be having a hard time with life outside of the military.
“When these men and women join the military, they came from a group, high school most of them, then they went into boot camp, and were a group, they get assigned up from the detail-er, they’re with another group, they get deployed, they’re with a tighter group. They get discharged, they’re by themselves,” Wheels 4 Warriors President and CEO, Craig Toupin said.
Points to decal on motorcycle: “The number 22 represent the number of veterans that take their lives by suicide daily in the united states,” Toupin said.
It’s a gesture that says you don’t have to go it alone…
“we’re getting them this motorcycle, but what they’re really getting is that group, and within that group, the group gives them a mentor for at least a period of a year, someone that’s there for them 24/7,” Toupin said.
“Hopefully one day we’ll build a bike and there will be a zero here,” Toupin said.
The process starts with a partnership with nationwide veteran organizations.
Those organizations then suggest individuals that are in need of support.
The bike body is donated, fixed up and customized.
And last, comes the big surprise.
Through these donations and partnerships, the organization supplies everything from gear to license and registration, to motorcycle insurance, to even riding lessons.
All the lucky veteran has to do is ride, care free.
“Motorcycle is therapy, motorcycling is therapy and it helps us get through that, and to know that you have people that count on that aren’t judging you, to help you get through these issues, that’s big time,” Toupin said.
On Veterans day, November 11th, Frontier Harley Davidson will be hosting the W4W Veterans Ray raffle event.
They will raffle off this bike with the “22” in the story.
The proceeds will all go toward giving those next special veterans the ride of their lives.
